Significant numbers of older men whose results on a popular screening test for prostate cancer are normal may nonetheless have cancer, a new study has found.
New studies of a blood protein recently identified at Johns Hopkins, early prostate cancer antigen-2 (EPCA-2), may change the way men are screened for prostate cancer.
Further work will be needed to simplify the test and to examine larger numbers of men to determine its cost-effectiveness before it can be applied more widely.
